A New Book: A Luminescent Collection of Paintings by Brenda Mercado

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you for your generous support and for purchasing the first edition of my book, “Listening to the Light.”

I am writing to share an update on its publication. Our team has decided to take the book in a new and meaningful direction, shifting its focus from poetry to a deeper exploration of my Chumash heritage, culture, and the ways these traditions inform and inspire my artwork.

This expanded edition will feature contributions from a distinguished group of scholars and cultural voices, offering historical, artistic, and personal perspectives that will enrich the book entitled, “Water, Light, Spirits”.

As a result of these changes, publication has been delayed, and we now anticipate its release in early April 2027.

I am excited about this new direction and believe the finished book will be a richer and more meaningful reflection of my life, art, and cultural heritage.
